Last week, our students learned an important mindset at Infinity Martial Arts: “I can do it.” This week, we take the next step and turn that belief into action. Perseverance is not just something kids think or say. It is something they practice. What Perseverance Looks Like in Action Perseverance means continuing to work even when progress feels slow or mistakes happen. It is choosing effort instead of quitting. For kids, this can be challenging. It is often easier to stop when something feels uncomfortable or difficult. That is why we intentionally practice perseverance during class, not just talk about it. How We Teach Perseverance Through Training In martial arts class, students are asked to repeat techniques, push through challenging drills, and try again after mistakes. Instructors emphasize effort over perfection. Students learn that improvement comes from repetition and consistency. Each time they choose to keep going, they build strength and confidence. Over time, kids begin to understand that progress happens because they did not give up. How Parents Often See This Outside the Dojo Parents frequently tell us they notice changes such as: Greater patience with schoolwork Increased follow-through with responsibilities More willingness to keep trying when things feel difficult These are signs that perseverance is becoming part of how a child approaches challenges. Why This Skill Matters Long Term Perseverance helps children handle setbacks and frustrations in healthy ways. Instead of avoiding challenges, they learn to face them with determination. This skill supports success in academics, sports, relationships, and future goals. Life Skill Challenge for Families This week, we encourage families to focus on follow-through. Ask your child, “What is one thing you can keep working on, even when it feels hard?” Help them set a small goal and celebrate the effort they put into sticking with it.
